January 2013: a new chapter for Daniel, Kelli, President Obama and Small World
Buongiorno friends and family. It has been awhile. Lots of big stuff has happened in the first few weeks of 2013 like our son Daniel and Casey's wedding.....Kelli departing to South Korea to teach....our President's second inauguration speech....Oscar nominations in a superb year of films....Super Bowl soon, which means Spring Training for baseball is just weeks away. Oh and all the gun enthusiasts wackos - and NOT the rational hunters - who are more concerned, compassionate about assault rifles (to complete annihilate a deer?), and their "right" rather than people's lives innocently lost. People, the fact is 85% of handgun deaths are a result of accidents, acts of passions, or the immediate access of a gun to end a life. But we will save that soapbox for another time.

Daniel and Casey had a WONDERFUL wedding. Casey's family came out from South Africa and they might be concerned about certain members of the Crescenti-Waters family....Not naming names but there are a few koo-koos. I at least made it through the service without crying. And thank you dear sweet daughter Kelli for making the wedding script 500% better. You are so damn talented. Plus, not enough can be said about Colleen going into J-Lo wedding planner mode. If you haven't seen the fabulous pictures from wedding photogs, who were so delightful as was MaryLynn our caterer, check out Daniel's facebook site.

The following day Kelli left to South Korea for one year. Very sad to see her go as we have LOVED having everyone home in small condo but what a blessing for Colleen and me to have everyone together laughing, eating, drinking, swiffering. But so proud of Kelli for taking on this challenge. When she was a child, she and her friends would play classroom endlessly with a blackboard, desks and everything. They would even put me in detention. So years later as an adult, Miss Kelli has her own classroom, teaching and influencing our impressionable youth. Mind-boggling.

What a year of movies and performances! Anne-Hathaway in Les Miserables, that is an actor's textbook to how to perform. And to Tony Hooper for his direction (although overlooked, as was Bigelow) of solid one-shot close-up moments. He didn't go all Constant Gardener on us, thank God. Argo. What a gem from Affleck. Silver Linings Playbook. A tour de force (not France, Lance) of performances there. What an actor and person Jennifer Lawrence is. Lincoln, Southern Beasts and those two first-time actors. Haven't seen Django.

On the Small World 2013 slate, five, 5, cinco, FIVE shows in production around the world! Sweden, Norway, Thailand, Malaysia, Canada-US and if a certain cable channel in US ever comes through, it will be another. Our Content partners are fantastic and we hope to add a sales person in February based in London. Lots of new format projects-sales in the works so check out smallworldift.com for that. We are also fortunate to have in our Small World family, wonderful, dedicated, giving people like Aito Media in Finland, Babyfoot in Denmark, Media Factory in Romania, Tresor in Germany and Don Baret everywhere to do anything on global productions. Lastly, if we can end the cliche singing talent shows and copycat celebrity pool diving shows...OH, WAIT. WAIT... We combine the two genres and the celeb judges have to dive into a pool after evaluating talent. Yes! Off to NATPE, or as some long-timers in our business call it NAPTE on Saturday then Europe for a couple of months.
Peace and progress always, Tim. Thanks for reading.
